Women’s Film Festival Cheese and Wine tasting
Good afternoon everyone! For today’s blog post, allow me to tell you about the Women’s Film Festival, started just a short decade ago by co-founders Phuong Nguyen and Layne Marie Williams. Suzi Nash of Philadelphia Gay News has been with Layne and Phuong for almost a full decade, and is the artistic and programming director. The Women’s Film Festival was started in October of 2014, and has grown over the years. For the last several years, my husband Eric and I have been loyal attendee’s, supporters, and un-official media and hotel liaisons to Suzi and everyone involved in the Women’s Film Festival. Last year, we were successful in featuring one of the film festivals producers, directors, and writers, Faye Brenner, on 6ABC with Alicia Vitarelli.
As a way to say thank you for all that my husband and I have done for Ms. Nash, and everyone at the film festival, we were invited to a private cheese and wine tasting experience at the Da Vinci Art Alliance in South Philadelphia. By the end of the event, we had a full table of attendees that have donated to the film festival, attended over the years, or worked the festival itself. Susan Lynham was our WSET certified educator in wine, and conducted the tasting. Susan was very knowledgeable, and is available for private and public events. For more information, and to book your next wine tasting, visit Philly Wine LLC.
For this year’s film festival, there is no exception of female talent. Bi Jean Ngo helped with one of the films being featured this year, plus there’s one film featuring a woman climbing a mountain after turning 70 with a group of other climbers. And as always, there are panel discussions, short film premier’s, and more in multiple locations throughout Philadelphia. The film festival runs from this Thursday, August 15th thru Sunday August 25th. For more information, click here to go to the Women’s Film Festival website.
